Collaborations

Suzuki Violin

The Suzuki Violin and Rhythm Program at Chilmark Preschool introduces children to music through the principles of the Suzuki Method, emphasizing listening, repetition, and the joy of learning and mastery through play. The program integrates violin instruction with rhythm-based activities to foster early musical literacy, motor coordination, and social-emotional growth.

This enrichment program aligns with CPS’s values of providing inclusive, high-quality early childhood education by offering students opportunities for creative expression, community connection, and confidence-building through music.

Story Theater

Throughout the school year, Phyllis Vecchia joins us for story theater. During her visits Phyllis guides us through an animated performance of children's books, complete with costumes, make up, and magical creative play.

At the end of the school year, parents and families are invited to join us for a beloved evening of story theater with Phyllis.

Island Grown Preschools

Island Grown Schools empowers a new generation of children to make healthy eating choices, learn to grow food, and connect to local farms. They bring garden-based learning, healthy, locally grown food, and hands-on farm experiences to almost every school-aged child in our community. They work with all seven public schools on the island and with nine preschools, and reach more than 2,300 students from 2-18 years old. They lead over 1,000 lessons each year through in classroom learning, local farm field trips, and through the 15 school gardens IGS maintains throughout the year.

Learn to Skate

The MV arena invites 4 and 5 year-old island preschoolers to participate in their learn to skate program. Chilmark Preschool has been grateful to participate in this grant-funded program for many years.
